Hey guys,

even if the last post in this thread was about 2 months ago I'd like to share my favourite Chest Run with you. I know it's nothing new but only a modified version of the Silent Surf Chest Run from Page 1^^. As my main target in this run are Jellyfish Wands I skip all chests that don't drop them. This leads to a very short run with 0-3 chests (1-2 is standard) in about 1-2 minutes. For the route, see the attached file. There sometimes spawn chests that can't drop jellyfish wands. These are the ones near the Leviathan Maul and the Rockhide Dragon group as well as the one in the south near the Kirin and Saltspray Dragon group. So you can skip these if you just run for Jellyfishs as I do. Only chests near Scuttle Fish, Creeping Carps and Irukandji can drop them.

Possible Drops:
Jellyfish Wands (comparatevely often -> ~3-4/full inventory)
Emblazoned Defenders -> rare
Other rare Canthan stuff like Jugs and Paper Fans (I only got one of each since doing this)
Embossed Aegis
Colossal Picks
Standard Jade Sea stuff (Jade Weapons, Archaic Axes and so on)
To be honest I'm not sure if the chest near the Kirin drop Echovalds (I never got one )
As I do this in Hard Mode I get Tomes too.
The run is very good for OS Weapons, cause there are no runes in the drop pool =)

I got to say that english is not my motherlanguage so I hope you understand everything =)

Greetings

Raffa

Edit: Make sure you dont have the Quest "The Dragon Hunter", as there wont be many "fishes" in the area

I was wondering if anyone else does the Melandru's Hope chest run. Personally I think its a pretty good run. Plenty of Amber weapons, Gothics, I've seen a few Paper Fans there as well.

2-3 chests per run and it takes ~5 minutes.

hey dude,

just curious - what build do u use for this run?
Think it could be pretty hard for beginners since creeping carps remove shadow form and shroud with their touch skill and then slow you down pretty bad

I'm using pretty much stadart SF build with "IAU" and dwarven stability+ dark escape+heart of shadow+ death's charge... fill group up with paragon/warrior or any other heroes with IMS shouts... If u take the right way, u can avoid pretty much all aggro till u arive at the with the whispering ritual lord in the south.. and from there on it should be nor problem to run / jump to a chest and open it^^^if u have any issues u can flag ur heroes in so they focus on them...
i do some kind of statistics on this run btw at the moment.. I'm running 250 lockpicks there and document my findings and i will share them when I'm done

Is there any distinct difference in the attainable drops (in high level zones) between NM and HM? Obviously the chance of getting a rare drop increases, but does running in HM say eliminate the chance of getting an r8 drop, or increase the chance of getting an r13 drop? I've been running Pongmei as of late and I've been wondering if this was the case.

im pretty sure you won't get any req8 from Lock Chests (HM).
And I can confirm you CAN get req8 max golds from Canthan Chests (NM).

Did a lot of chestrunning in pongmei nm lately to get some nice req8 drops...
Swords, Shields and Offhands are confirmed to still drop as req8 max golds...
didnt see any other items drop as req8max gold since years...

but if you hunt long enough you 100% will get a req8 max gold in NM earlier or later.... (i think best chance for r8 gold max stuff you got when foes [around chest] are lvl20.)

So to your question:
YES.. running in HM will kill your r8 chance (and increase r13 chance imo)

Definitely seeing a lot of lower req., unfortunately a lot of non-max too... oh well, higher retain, it'll just take longer I suppose.

anyone got a nice route for chestrunning in crystal desert?
haven't seen a fast run there so far...

The chests there can still drop req8s in NM.... so gogogo find a nice run for me :P

thanks upfront for all input

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Also something else for the few chestrunners out there....

I took 750 Lockpicks with me and did NM Chestruns in Pongmei Valley till all were gone.
This was the result:

- Really Good Drops:

- Good Drops:
Bronze Shield Req8str/15ar +29/9vscold
Platinum Wand Req8 Fire 10-20dmg
Amber Aegis Req9str
Crude Shield Req9tac
Echovald Shield Req10tac
Broadsword Req9 (2x) -> one was r9 15^50
Golden Pillar Req9
Ominous Idol Req9Dom (2x)
Gothic Shield Req9str (2x)
Gothic Shield Req9tac (2x)
Gothic Shield Req10tac (2x)
Echovald Shield Req10tac
Paper Fan Req11 FC
Paper Fan Req11 SR
Paper Fan Req12 SR
Jug Req11 SR
Jug Req12 DF
Ornate Shield Req9str / Req10tac (2x) / Req11tac / Req11str
Bronze Shield Req9tac (+ Req11tac -2st +30)
Embossed Aegis Req9tac / Req9str
Tall Shield Req9tac
Golden Chalice Req9ES

- Not so good Drops:

TONS of amber/jade wands and staves and nonmax golds / unwanted skins (archaic axe, morningstar axe, Branch.... )

Important Note - I did get like 5-10 Bo/Dragon Staves... but not one of them had a max inherent HSR mod!

Some statistics (not 100% accurate) for those who want to get some req8s too:

- I did chestruns untill all 750 Lockpicks were broke.
- 1 Lockpick will keep for ~8 Canthan Chests (in average with Max Treasure & Luck).
- Opened ~4 Chests / Run
- More or less 1 Gold Drop every 2 Runs (in average)

----
750 Lockpicks -> Opened ~5000-6000 Cathan Chests -> Got 9 Req8's:

So you could say for every 666 (^^) opened canthan chests you will get 1 Req8.
If you can do 4 Chests/Run @ Pongmei -> For every 166 Runs you will get 1 Req8.

Result for me:
Droprate is shit ... but I haven't seen so many unidentified Req8's in my inventory in years - so I'll definitely do some more runs!
Still hoping for the req8+5 fellblade to drop^^

(& Yes, req8 max swords do drop from canthan chests)

Cheers!

/E:
just got another req8df paper fan^^

/E2:
will wait untill i got ~20 req8's in storage to be sure at least 1 will be good
will post the identified stuff here too...

cheers

@system: What's the profit of running NM over HM in Pongmei for example? Only the chance of keeping the lockpicks or does it affect the chance of getting req8's?

@fadekill.... you won't get req8's from any chests expect "canthan chests", "kournan chests" or those in crytal desert (elonian chests i think)...

so yea... NM affects the chance of req8's...
and that's also the only reason im running in NM...

and yea... lockpic retain rate is awsome aswell.
doubled my max luck title within the last 800-900 lockpicks i think

I've recently decided that my r3 treasure hunter title simply isn't high enough, so I went and bought myself a stack of lockpicks.
Now as I've no idea which places are good for chest running I came to this thread.
Pongmei is the lucky area that gets to eat my stack, but after seeing systems post about all those sexy q8's, I'm wondering whats more rewardable: HM or NM?
The way I see it NM = chance for q8's but rest is most likely crap, and HM = more consistent drops (golds which atleast the merchant pays something for) and a chance for rares like Bo staves.
So between NM or HM, for someone with only 250 picks, which one do I chose for most money back?

Ty in advance

HM would be the best option for you, Deadly. Dont forget you also get elite tomes from HM and they will easily cover the cost of picks.

NM = Not working for Chest title anyway, since it's a Canthan chest!

well after breaking nearly 1000 Picks in NM @ pongmei I'd say... go for HM!

The chance for req8's is sweet but still... at least 3/4 of the req8s i got were crap anyway^^
So sure you can be really lucky and get a perfect req8... but the chance is rly slim.

You'll get more cash from HM I think... Elite Tomes, unid crap 7=6k, and some req9+ rare skins... not too bad imo

and like vizi said... NM won't count for the title @ pongmei!

But crystal desert NM should improve your title, right? Up until next week I got a lot to do but starting of next week I thought about looking for a good chest run route in the crystal desert (because you looked for one). Will see how that goes. What's your acceptable time/chest ratio?
